@Delta my flight has been sitting at the gate waiting on a grounds crew to get us parked for over 30 minutes in Atlanta. Completely unacceptable!

I couldn’t let the day end w/o congratulating my friend and colleague, @AsstAD_MLee, on her next professional journey. Someone who could always be counted on for support and to show up for our students. The void will be unfillable and your impact is unmatched. Soar my friend!

At their last Homecoming Meltdown, seniors from the Class of 2025 wanted to take a picture to commemorate our journey over the past 4 years. This class will always be special to me as we started our Claflin story together in 2021. #ClaflinMagic #CUHOCO24

Today, I was featured by Cisco as they announced their partnership with Claflin through Cisco Stories. The segment titled “Setting the Standard, Leading the Change” is indicative of the work I get to do each day at Claflin. It’s Claflin Magic! youtu.be/GgenU-HJ5J0

My professional instincts have never let me down. When those instincts kick in l have to remember the advice from a mentor. - Be slow to act. - Everything does not deserve an in the moment response or any response - use the interaction to set new boundaries.

Pat Summitt said, "Attitude is a choice. What you think you can do, whether positive or negative, confident or scared, will most likely happen." Your attitude shapes your reality. It's a choice on how you want to respond to life's challenges. • It means staying positive even when times are tough. • It means believing in your abilities despite setbacks. There will always be adversity, but it's your attitude and mindset that will determine how far you go. How to Improve Your Attitude: Create an Attitude of Gratitude - Feed yourself positivity, gratitude, and greatness instead of listening to complaining, negativity, and doubt. Spend time thinking about the positive aspects of your life. Research shows that practicing gratitude daily can lead to improved mood and overall well-being. Prioritize What's Within Your Control - It starts with your ability to focus. Take ownership and control of what you can control. When you realize that you can control your mindset and attitude, you start to view external challenges for what they are, just challenges. Have a growth-mindset and believe that you can grow and improve Stay Present - BE HERE NOW - When you focus on the present, you reduce stress and anxiety because you aren’t worrying about the past or anxious about the future. All we have is the present moment. Your attitude and mindset depends on your ability to be mindful of your environment. Change Your Self-Talk - Challenge your negative thoughts. Replace your negative words with positive affirmations. Your words are powerful, especially the words that you speak to yourself. Studies show that positive self-talk can enhance your confidence and reduce stress. Believe in Your Resilience and Your Future - Cultivate self-belief. Research has shown that having a positive self-view predicts improves your self-esteem and confidence. When you believe in your future, you take ownership and responsibility for your choices and actions because you believe they will affect your future. "Attitude lies somewhere between emotion and logic. It's that curious mix of optimism and determination that enables you to maintain a positive outlook and to continue plodding in the face of the most adverse circumstances." - Pat Summitt - - - Follow @coachajkings for more posts like this!

4. Establish strategic partnerships across campus will allow you to be most effective in your role. It allows others to see you as a team player, while also allowing others to see your work and become advocates. More to come but I’d love to hear thoughts from fellow DOS!

3. As DOS, stakeholders (especially students) will expect you to have at least basic knowledge of processes and procedures associated with other areas on campus OR at least know which direction to point them in to address their concerns. #StudentAffairs #DeanofStudents
