C.S. Lewis on the Soul, God, & Christianity, Stewart Goetz. Read for a book review. If you've read his previous work, denying that Lewis is a virtue ethicist, that's present here as well.

Augustine, Enchiridion on Faith, Hope, & Love. Short and (I think) assignable for 1-2 class sessions, but it hits the high points on a lot of his thought.

Iliad, trans. Emily Wilson. It's been several years, so I went at this again and selected the most controversial new translation. Verdict: I see no issue with this, but I don't read Homeric Greek.

Richard Ayoade, Ayoade on Ayoade: A Cinematic Odyssey. That's a lot of Ayoades.

Keith Ward, Christ & the Cosmos: A Reformulation of Trinitarian Doctrine. Properly identifies what's wrong w/ social trinitarianism, then promptly develops a whole new, worse set of problems instead. If you're going to develop a new religion, then get on with it.

The Landmark Thucydides (including appendices). Thucydides is much more like a modern historian than Herodotus, for good and ill. Who the heck knows what's going on most of the time, but the Athenians suck.

The Blazing World, Margaret Cavendish. Not very good, but unusual for being a female science fiction writer in the 17th Century. It does get stranger (better) in the latter bits.

Divine & Human Agency in Paul, ed. John Barcaly & Simon Gathercole. Essays on non-competitive agency, fate, etc. in Qumran, Stoicism, and others. Who knew the Essenes were Calvinists?

Eusebius, Preparation for the Gospel, vol. 2. Focuses on the philosophers, especially Plato. Details how Plato both agrees (in Eusebius's mind) and disagrees with Christianity. Also some other folks, including a rundown of ancient astronomy.

Roadside Picnic, the Strugatsky brothers. This is the basis for Tarkovsky's Stalker, though that's not a direct adaptation by any means. I watched the movie and friends recommended the book, so I gave it a shot. It's an interesting atmosphere, and very Soviet-feeling.

Eusebius, Preparation for the Gospel, vol I. Did you know Eusebius wrote huge books of apologetics? This is a large swathe of ancient quotes demonstrating that the gods of the nations are demons & the Jewish religion is the most ancient & best of all. Some of it is nonsense FYI.

Companion to Sport & Spectacle in Greek & Roman Antiquity, ed. Paul Christesen/Donald G. Kyle. Monster book, almost 700 pgs. I've been chipping away at this while in the gym, and today it's done!

C.S. Lewis at the BBC, Justin Phillips. Ostensibly covers Lewis's broacast talks, but lots of other chapters giving context from the BBC side. Also includes Sayers. The CSL material is not as prominent as you'd think, but it's all fascinating. What a far cry from the BBC today!

@JeremyJLloyd Not yet. This was just the very first complete draft, so the copy isn't even finalized.

The book I finished reading yesterday was mine--a manuscript draft for Baker. I'm currently calling it Narnia Dogmatics, but the title is unconfirmed. Cover design is just something I came up with for illustration purposes.

Landmark Herodotus (including essays). Went back through this for an upcoming project. An archetype for stories of invasion, war, and freedom. The charming individual anecdotes are the lifeblood of the book.

Theodicy, G.W. Leibniz. Had no idea this was so directed toward Pierre Bayle. But it's clearly influential on what comes after, including Lewis's own approaches.
