Yes. As scientists, we tend to value our subject-matter expertise rather than our skills. But our skills are transferable, even when our expertise may not be. It takes courage to leave that expertise behind but it can be very rewarding.

If you received @nhmrc #NFFC news yesterday & your role ends 31 Dec, do what you need to do for you & your circumstance. Leaving academia is not “giving up” or “failing”. To persist without salary is impossible for many, esp. with dependents. You will be respected whatever you do

When it comes to science, collaboration is key. FAIR data is about ensuring that scientists can share and access data easily—this ensures the data collected aren’t wasted. They may be used again and again to make more discoveries and build on previous studies.
