ALL professor level geo staff told by Dean not eligible to apply for any remaining positions as ‘can get two teachers for the price of a prof’. My interp: do an amazing job, be world leading, get promoted and you’ll get fired.

Why is such a devastating national loss of talent on this scale overlooked by the media @abcscience @smh @10NewsFirst @Science_Academy? Australia needs these scientists to create a more sustainable, brighter future for us through research and education. And NO 👩‍🔬women left!?(1/3)

Is the fiscal response to COVID-19 compounded by the government's recent 'art vs. science' fee restructure? Are enrolment #s the only measure of value to society?

In a time when food, water and energy security are front and centre, and climate change is huge issue, the very Earth scientists needed to address these problems are all apparently suoerfluous. Outrageous!
