@goldstone_tony @DHSCgovuk The unprofessional attitude is staggering. Always has been. A few years back I asked for a “statement” of my annual pension growth. I kid you not it came back in an email just typed with the year and the value. No formal letter or table etc. I was dumbfounded.

I have repeatedly pointed out to @DHSCgovuk that the tone & content of these emails are absolute disgrace & that government need to intervene STAT. How are people, including you, meant to self assess or estimate their position? The "no timescale" line is frankly ridiculous

Well this is just brilliant isn’t it. Wondered why I haven’t had a brown envelope so chased up the RPSS. So not only did govt unlawfully mess with our pensions and it now needs to be changed back, but I can’t do my tax return or work out if I’m owed or still owe AA-related tax 🙄

Dr Chris van Tulleken: “We’ve not all got greedier & lazier over the last 30 years. Instead there has been a total failure to regulate the food companies who shape our food environment.” #BBCLauraK: “Is it really for gov…to tell what companies can put in [food]?” Dr C: “Argh!”

It would be the most Noel and Liam thing ever if one of them woke up tomorrow morning and had a change of heart. 😂

@matthewcpinsent Yeah I’ll never forget Atlanta 96 and our medal Talley. The first olympics I really truly watched (aged 13). It’s got better ever since. A good time to grow up with the athletes

Mark Cavendish could’ve easily abandoned and taken a rest as his job was done and his goal was achieved, but he still decided to suffer in the mountains to be able to make it to the finish line in Nice and finish his last Tour de France. Chapeau! 🫡 #TDF2024 📷: cyclingimages

I covered #England under 10 managers, including some caretakers, very august names and figures among them. Not one of them achieved what #GarethSouthgate has, some with potentially exceptional sides in 98, 06 and 10. (Venables might have, but couldn't swallow his pride and do a Euro 96 'audition', though it was really the FA suits fault for insisting he did.) Worth remembering too, that England failed to qualify for a Euros and three World Cups in the 70s, 80s and 90s. Not only is Southgate's record of achievement quite brilliant, he did it with enlightenment, by developing and empowering young men, showcasing them as shining representatives of a diverse and - largely - tolerant nation, partly bolstering a nation's self-esteem in some dark years and ridding the national team of a world-weariness. There are those who called him woke. He certainly woke English football. The 'Dear England' letter was a masterstroke. There were mistakes, moments he missed, opportunities that slipped through his fingers. He will surely reflect on them more than anybody. They are not for today, nor does today belong to those who have been vilifying this most honourable, articulate and steadfast of men for perceived failures that really aren't. Today is for him to be assured that those who have any realistic sense of English football's history and standing, and who appreciate a return to being able to hold heads high, are humbly grateful for his eight years of inspired, yeoman service.

After 102 games and almost eight years in charge, Gareth Southgate has announced he is to leave his role as manager of the #ThreeLions.
