I was brought up on the ideal that you choose a career, and then you advance through that career and finally retire. Now, that ideal is dead, and going back to school won't work either. What is our society planning to do with us?

It’s rough out there for millennials, you literally need to be lucky to have a job because companies don’t want to hire you cos of ageism. I’ve been there.

@KaliMist22 It's grim out there right now. I am 44, I have over 23 years of software engineering experience, unemployed, and even I am having trouble finding another job. I have some savings left, but without help from my family I would be in trouble.

I'm actually so confused how some mid 20 year olds are surviving with no job. They just sit online all day every day doom scrolling, streaming to 4 people and playing video games...
How do you live? How do you make money? How are you content with having no path and no ambition in life? I'm genuinely curious.

Literally have a degree in IT that I cant use because I dont have three years of experience in IT for an entry level position.

@KaliMist22 Ah, well for me I am using this time to figure out how to make money on my own without depending on a job for income. I have some physical limitations, so there are very few jobs besides IT work that I can do.

@DrFoxTheVTuber Look for a job in a different field. Work an entry job if you have to. Find any job to make sure you still can survive. It's just how I was raised I guess.
