🚨BREAKING: Cineplex Refuses to Screen The Shot: Sean Hartman’s Story Anywhere in Canada🚨
After weeks of conversations, booking quotes, and attempts to secure private screenings, we have been informed that Cineplex will not allow screenings of our documentary The Shot: Sean Hartman’s Story in any of their theatres across Canada.
According to a Cineplex representative, the company is “not willing to be involved in your screenings at any locations” and stated that “the possible subject matter has not been approved.”
What makes this decision even more concerning is that Cineplex did not request to see the film before rejecting it, nor did they ask for a screener to evaluate its contents.
This decision is particularly troubling given that the documentary is evidence-based, drawing from publicly available sources including CDC data, FDA documentation, peer-reviewed medical research, and governmental records, alongside interviews with medical experts and individuals directly involved in the story.
At its core, The Shot: Sean Hartman’s Story is a true story about a father’s fight for answers after the death of his 17-year-old son.
Yet Cineplex, Canada’s largest theatre chain, has decided that Canadian audiences should not see it in their theatres.
This comes at a time when the same theatre chain regularly screens major studio productions, including Disney films that openly promote DEI-driven messaging aimed at young audiences, while refusing to host a documentary about a grieving father seeking answers.
Cineplex has made it clear: this story will not be shown in their theatres.
The good news is that independent venues across Canada are stepping up, and the tour continues to grow.
If Cineplex won’t show the film, communities across Canada will.
