My oldest son was just named an All American Soccer Player. Last year Sports Illustrated Named him a top 20 recruit. He’s a senior in High School. He has only had sporadic contact from coaches. No commitment anywhere. The idea of be great at sports go to college is broken

And that's a wrap! Appointment at 9 and home by 11. The colonoscopy was the easiest part--I slept through the whole thing then came home and took a nap. Hope I don't have to do this again for 10 more years, but when I do, I will be ready! If you're due for one, you're ready too!

Done! I threw back the last 4 cups like a champ. In the end, it wasn't as bad as I had imagined. I hope my doc gets a good view! Here's a great resource from @AmerGastroAssn patient.gastro.org/colonoscopy/

Slept 5 hours and woke up at 4 a.m. to start part 2. On the plus (or minus?) side, I'm down 3 pounds. Also my prep buddy is still with me. The instructions suggested this might work better with a straw. Yup. Wish I had read that earlier.

T+4:45. Time flies when you're having fun. Just finished part 1 of the split prep, which was supposed to be done in 3 hours. Oops. The bathroom trips are spreading out. Pro tip--chug 4 oz. of prep and chase with a sip of Sprite. I just figured that out with cup #11.

T+3:45. Speaking of enemas, apparently simply doing an enema just before a colonoscopy doesn't create a clean enough view but having one under anesthesia would make prep a lot easier, at least for the patient.

T+4 hours. Crap. I either measured or counted wrong, and now it looks like I have to drink 13 cups instead of 12.

T+3:30. My sweet dog is keeping me company. This led me down the rabbit hole of wondering whether dogs ever need colonoscopies and what kind of prep they would use. Looks like they fast, take a laxative, and get an enema. The more you know... vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/…

T+3:15. I just chugged cup #9 and can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

T+3 hours. The last cup took me 45 minutes to finish--3 times longer than it was supposed to. I'm clearly failing at this assignment and have the utmost respect for people who are good at it!

T+2:45. How long are these metaphorical floodgates supposed to stay open?

@katzablot You had a double whammy and found it to be manageable?? My hat is off to you!

@DrJenniferShu I had pills and split prep big jug. I found it to be manageable.

T+1:15 am I allowed to drink other stuff in between the prep? Has anyone done the lower volume prep such as Suprep or CLENPIQ or just taken pills for this? My doc insisted the split prep big jug would be best.
