Emotional instability is not a marker of personality disorder but a marker of pain. There are many reasons for this from complex trauma to PMDD or an environment where one can't fundamentally be oneself leading to masking. #TraumaNotPD #AutismNotPD #ADHDNotPD #PMDDNotPD

Honestly think that the major message for the next generation of psychiatrists is that how neurodiversity is expressed, particularly in women and in restrictive contexts, is not “emotional instability” and is most definitely not “personality disorder”

That feeling when you stumble on something and realise you must be old after all

The mislabelling of neurodivergent women as having “personality disorder” is one of the most harmful acts enabled by that diagnostic concept

It’s a progressive change in the law from 2007 enabling registered and regulated clinicians from a range of recognised, traditional backgrounds to be responsible for the care of people detained under the Mental Health Act. Please don’t conflate it with other, unrelated, issues
