As per World Malaria Report 2020. India contributed 2 percent of malaria cases globally. Despite being the highest burden country of the SEARO region, in 2019, India recorded a 60% reduction in reported cases compared with 2017 and a 46% reduction compared with 2018.

Sir Ronald Ross of Indian Army Medical Cor. discovered that mosquitoes transmit malaria in the city of Secunderabad, India on this day the 20th August - The World Mosquito Day. He won Noble Prize for this great discovery.
