@StevenIsserlis I was once sitting listening to him rehearse Bartok with the RPO on tour in Switzerland and Martha Argerich came in quietly at the back and sat near me in the audience. They had the most wonderful & humble exchange in the rehearsal break , it was a beautiful thing to witness.

Radu Lupu would have been 79 today! What a great artist - and man. I still use him as a guide - if asked to do something about which I have doubts, I'll ask myself: "Would Radu have done this?" One of the greatest, most profound, most sincere musicians I have ever encountered.
