My preferred engagement with voters is one that is genuine, interactive and, of course, based on consent Consent and meaningful engagement have been central to my professional success as a GP. I have been disappointed to learn that the Trumpet’s text messages are exempt from the protections in the Spam Act 2003 and the Do Not Call Register Act 2006. These exemptions allow political parties to send unsolicited communications, including text messages, during election periods. In my mind, these exemptions do not serve any community interest.
