We received our official academic data from last year, and I'm proud to report that @CLEMetroSchools improved academic proficiency in EVERY tested subject, and some with significant gains! Specifically, we have now exceeded pre-pandemic proficiency in HS ELA, Algebra, and US Government! We have a lot to celebrate, and I'm so proud of our scholars, educators, and leaders! However, the State Report Card changed this year to include a new College and Career measure, and as anticipated, we are 2.5 stars. CMSD has historically struggled in this area, but our Building Brighter Futures plan will help to address this by ensuring 100% of schools offer college and career pathways and enrichment courses. We also must continue to work on reducing chronic absenteeism. It's no time to make excuses or slow down our work... it's time to LEVEL UP and continue our great progress. What a great way to finish the weekend! I saw scholars from 8 @CLEMetroSchools schools perform in the All City Musical, Fame, twice! Our scholars were brilliant and CMSD educators and the community showed up to support them. Thank you @playhousesquare and many others for the continued partnership. I also had the honor of being recognized by Mt. Zion Oakwood Village Church among several other Cleveland leaders for our service and leadership. The pride and joy I felt watching our Cleveland School of the Arts scholars perform in the Arts Alive production of Dinosaurs Awaken this evening. This was a cross-disciplinary effort where Music met Dance met Art met Science met Math met History etc... and our scholars performed and designed it all! Nights like this are a reminder of why we do this work. Great work Principal R. Franklin and the CSA team! I know!!! The cheer competition is on Friday this year as well. The cheer competition is for all of our district cheer teams and was planned well in advance of knowing if any of our scholars would advance for state basketball. The great news is our scholars are doing successful and positive things (even if they are at the same time). Our district all city musical is also this weekend. So, many great things to choose from and support our scholars in! Thank you for your support of our scholars!

@CLEMetroSchools scholars recently participated in the 48th Annual Thesmacher High School Recognition Event through the Rotary Club of Cleveland bringing together students, business leaders, principals, and community members for a powerful day of dialogue, recognition, and collaboration. Throughout the event, our scholars: 🎯 Engaged with business and community leaders about future career opportunities and pathways after high school 🎯 Discussed key issues they see in their schools and communities 🎯 Worked alongside adults and peers to propose thoughtful solutions I love when there is an opportunity to give our CMSD scholars the space to share and uplift their voices. Not only is it Pi day but it's also my birthday... My Jackie Robinson year. I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate my bday than seeing CMSD's Glenville HS defeat Cleveland Central Catholic to make it to the OHSAA State tournament back to back! You may remember Victorious, an 8th grade @CLEMetroSchools scholar from AB Hart School who served as CEO for the day. When she told me she's never been to a @cavs game, we made sure she had the opportunity to go! Tuesday was her very first Cavs game and not only did they win, she got the chance to get on the court during halftime and we were on the jumbotron! I'm so proud of her and look forward to her continued academic success as she heads to high school!
