Carroll took a 4-0 lead into the 5th inning, but Byron Nelson managed to come from behind for the 6-4 victory. The Bobcats scratched across 4 runs in the top of the 6th, with a bloop single that scored the eventual game winner. Sophomore LHP Camden Dean @cd33lefty went 4 1/3 allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, with 5 K's. Gavin Morris @Gmorris2028 struck out 2 in a scoreless 7th. The Dragons had 4 XHB's on the night - a double and triple by Dean, a double by Gavin Strange @GavinStrange1 and a triple by Matthew Heredia @MatthewHeredi16. Cooper Newby @CooperNewby44 had a sac fly RBI and hit one to the wall that would have tied the score, but it was caught to end the game.

Carroll pitchers held Byron Nelson to just 1 hit, but it was a grand slam, and the Dragons fell 5-1 in the district opener for both teams. Southlake took the lead in the 2nd on singles by Cooper Newby @CooperNewby44 and Braeden Baker @b_baker41, but the Bobcats responded with a 5-spot in the 3rd inning on 3 walks, a HR, and a double steal. LHP AJ Bonnette @AjBonnette44 took the loss, allowing 5 R (4 earned) on just 1 hit, punching out 6 in 4 innings of work. Fellow sophomore Gavin Morris @Gmorris2028 threw 2 innings of hitless, scoreless relief. The two teams will meet again on Friday night at Dragon Ballpark.
