Has it really been a week since the season came to a close? We miss it already! This team fought to the end. Won 9 straight games down the stretch and earned our 28th consecutive playoff appearance. Played arguably the toughest schedule in the state. Had double-digit sophomores make varsity and see considerable playing time. We fell a little short of our goal, but #TraditionProtected. Well done, men! Special shout-out to our 13 seniors in the Class of '26. Once a Dragon, Always a Dragon! Not the way we wanted it to end, as the Dragons fall to Midland 3-0 in game two of the Area Round of the 6A D2 playoffs, bringing the season to a close. Sophomore LHP AJ Bonnette @AjBonnette44 gave up 2R (1 earned) on 6H across 6 innings, striking out 7 in a gutty 115 pitch effort. Offensively, Carroll was limited to 4 baserunners, including singles by Matthew Heredia @MatthewHeredi16 and Caden Mackey @CadenMackey2027. This one hurts tonight, but the 2026 Dragons will be remembered as a young, resilient team that refused to give up. Carroll carried a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the 6th, but Midland broke thru with three runs to take a 3-2 victory in game 1 of the best-of-3. A week after throwing a combined no-hitter, Jackson Smith @Jackson__Smith1 pitched another gem, giving up just 1 hit thru 5 1/3, punching out 5. A leadoff walk by Cam Dean @cd33lefty and a double by Matthew Heredia @MatthewHeredi16 opened the scoring. Shawn Arterburn @ShawnArterburn had 3 singles to pace the Dragons offensively. Carroll will need to win two tomorrow, as the teams face off again at Rocker B Ranch.

Carroll will face the Midland High Bulldogs, who went 13-2 in District 2-6A and are now 28-5 overall after sweeping El Paso Eastwood in the Bi-District round.
