@gamesandbourbon I don't know about others, but my negative reviews are usually more researched than my positive ones. When I don't like a game i play a few more times to make sure it was t a first impression, and then i also talk to others who played it independently

When i see negative game reviews, i bet 99% of the time those people played it once. And if once is the answer, its not a review that carries weight with me.

@gamesandbourbon @GameMinimalist @inquiry_meeple Definitely due to the government mandate and not the healthcare system we have in place. If it were up to them, it would cost our life savings to get the shot and it would be granted in order of how much money you pay, not given to essential workers.

@GameMinimalist @inquiry_meeple A result of the oft criticized health care system? I've no idea why but it seems to be available on every corner convenience store around me.

@kjrevia New knives tend to need a blood sacrifice before they are tamed. Happened to me about a month ago. It also took a smaller bite out of my girlfriend but I think it's tame now.

Scythe the Dice Game. What do you think?

@gamesandbourbon I absolutely love the artwork, i keep the art book in my living room and it's also in my top 20 games. I really enjoy the subversion of expectations with the gameplay

This question came to mind because i was reading Shems top 100 games list. An adored game that i think is an eyesore...Scythe. The dark dytopian box gives way to a ketchup/Mustard stained play area further aggrieved by figures whos sizes make no sense. Some recalling Viticulture!

Why you need to stop saying "good enough" and low balling your own projects. How many of you are going to investigate this game based off this cover alone?

@gamesandbourbon Though that depends on how old you go (just like music) if you get into the wargaming rules if the 80's it's like trying to understand all of the different parts of a symphony

My relationship with boardgames is reflecting my music collection in that, as time rolls on, i find it more interesting to deep dive into the older games for the straight dope. A lot of punch without complication.

So the US played Pandemic and Fortress America at the same time yesterday. Little bit not-so-Secret Hitler as well to spice it up.

@gamesandbourbon Hahahaha, no problem. We'll do a walk-through of how it works. It's really just an advanced version of facebook messenger, it just lets you have your group chats and split them into sub groups based on topic.

For those who have New Bedford, i hear its missing the solo tile from the first printing. Is there a way to tell which printing is which?

@elizhargrave @KindFortress I think Spirit Island is a really interesting game in that space, exploring preventing blight and harm to the island and repelling colonization. Definitely not as tied to reality as Wingspan CO2 and some others but still an interesting subversion.

@KindFortress Right, and Catan obviously isn't going to make me go chop down a tree for fun...but I wonder if ppl have looked at what has happened to our attitudes toward violence/destruction, even if we're not directly perpetrating them.

Food for thought: I see notes like this fairly regularly. If Wingspan is turning people into real-life bird lovers, what does it do to our psyches to play so many games about environmental destruction, colonialism, etc? Is there a reason one would stick and not the other?
