I usually just look for a lot of references and then I start!. And I can't really say I sculpt; I do direct modeling. I use sculpting tools to deform the head more easily, but I never do high-poly sculpting. I try to focus on the most important shapes; all the characters have something that strongly identifies them

@DrawnBen Ooh! I’ve the stylization! How to you go about visualizing the stylized facial features? Do you have a concepting process or to you just sculpt it out on the fly?
