‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME’ was released on this day in 1981. Trivia: Glenn Ford appeared in the cult slasher late in his career, and the film became especially famous among horror fans for its elaborate murder set pieces and notoriously twist-heavy ending. Happy 45th anniversary!

If this thing really wants to work, the casting needs to go full fantasy-draft mode. Sigourney Weaver. Charlize Theron. Michelle Yeoh. Kate Beckinsale. Angelina Jolie. Milla Jovovich. Linda Hamilton. The entire appeal of ‘THE EXPENDABLES’ was always watching larger-than-life action icons collide onscreen. ‘EXPENDABELLES’ needs exactly the same energy. Read more: [dreadcentral.com/indie/572855/a…]

This is a straight-up Begos film. His movies already operate like sweat-soaked midnight exploitation films blasted through neon lights, practical gore, punk rock energy, and pure rage. Turning Zorro into a chainsaw-wielding urban vigilante hunting corruption in modern Los Angeles sounds exactly as unhinged as it should. Read more: [dreadcentral.com/indie/572840/j…]

Begos says the film is aiming for the gritty practical-action energy of: • ‘ROBOCOP’ • ‘TO LIVE AND DIE IN L.A.’ • ‘HARD BOILED’ And yes — the plan is reportedly to shoot the movie on 35mm.

Joe Begos is turning Zorro into a brutal exploitation-style vigilante for new horror-action film ‘THEY CALL HIM ZORRO.’ The modern reimagining follows Diego Vega hunting corrupt officials across Los Angeles armed with chains, machetes, an electric saw, and a sawed-off shotgun. First 'SPECIES' reaction: "Le Corroller’s film taps into the sinister sci-fi paranoia that feeds David Cronenberg’s early movies," writes @DEADLINE. "[Corroller orchestrates] the squishy mayhem right up to the unusually bleak climax that fully delivers on the premise." 😲

How's this for a quote(!): “When I heard that Paul Anderson is rebooting 'HOUSE OF THE DEAD', I immediately knew that it will be a soulless CGI orgy”, said Boll in a statement. “And I want to do a completely different zombie movie: Bloody, gory and handmade.”
