No, I would have still made it, just without the "I never played" part. People would have been outraged over the game weather I played it or not. At the end of the day, I don't care what they do with the IP. I just get where those who are outraged are coming from. And I enjoy trying to understand other peoples point of view, this was just my understanding of those who had issues, beyond the "woman bad" crowd.

@DreadDiscourse Yeah but the game gives the context of why this game is not only desired but needed. Had you played it you wouldn’t have made the post you did

The whole God of War outrage makes sense to me. I've never played GOW, so I don't really care at the end of the day, to be honest. But it makes sense, it's the same thing as if they decided to make a new Tomb Raider game and used a man instead of Lara Croft. Lara Croft is the franchise, the story is about her, just as Kratos is for God of War. If you want to make a new story within the same universe, give it a new name. Otherwise, all you'll get is pushback from the majority who care about the story of the main character when you try to feed off their success. The game isn't out yet, they still have time, but will that save them from the negatives they've already suffered due to the perceived removal of fans' investment? Star Wars is a good example. The world of Star Wars was rich in lore, and the larger universe itself felt like the main character, in my opinion. When Disney came in, they shifted the focus from the entire property to targeted characters. That change removed what drew in the majority of fans. Star Wars has lost a lot of its former cultural dominance as a result, they moved away from what made it special. This is the same dynamic I see happening with what we know about the new God of War. There's a real risk that the special element that drew people in gets removed. The culture war angle is part of the current backlash, but I don’t think it’s the biggest issue. People are mostly calling out the perception of a bias we've seen across gaming for over a decade now, and it's echoing here. No one has a problem playing as a woman in a game. It's the perception that what built God of War is being dismantled that people are mad about.

I think you missed my point here. I am only laying out my own understanding of those who are outraged. The overall story, or decisions that were actually made here don't really matter, since I don't care what they do with the IP at the end of the day. I'm focused on the reaction, not the content in a way.

I tend to agree at least on the culture war arguments, but it is worth at least approaching it with a good faith argument. Because there are alot of people who have issues with this. Some of which are not able to articulate the issues they have clearly, and are captured by the "Woman Bad" grifters. But not all of them, my own feed when I wrote this was filled with people just asking about design, or story issues, with a underlying fear that if it didn't sell as well, there wouldn't be another main game for a long time.

I’ve never eaten caviar so I won’t complain about it. Why comment on a game you’ve never played?

@DreadDiscourse Seems silly. It's in the GoW universe, it's directly connected to the current story. Kratos appears in the game. Maybe "a God of War game" super title would be more accurate, but damn man, this just feels petty

I think you should re-read what i wrote. I'm not talking about the game, rather the outrage around it, and explaining how i can understand the perception that is causing the outrage. I suppose I could have wrote a bit more clearly to that point. But I normally only average 0 interactions and use my account as more of a way to straighten my own thoughts on society and culture. Just because I might be off because of specific story beats doesn't matter, when its the perception outside of the game surrounding it that is causing the issue.

if you've never played a single God of War game, why are you even writing a full-on essay about it? But to add to the Tomb Raider thing, if you played the game, you know how this isn't remotely the same. The MC in Tomb Raider being a man that would be a self-insert; Faye simply isn't

When I am able to sit down and pay attention to what I am writing I usually try. But I muck up spelling and grammar all the time regardless. Sometimes I do use ai to fix it, like an editor for longer things, but that only ends up causing more issues than it solves. I've caught myself using the wrong dose and does a lot today, and feel pretty ashamed.

Seams interesting. How early is this in production? Some of the graphics look a bit off/out of place to me, unless that's the Unreal Engine look hitting again, or just classic Fumito Ueda styling. I'm guessing post apoc or an abandoned/failed colony planet. Could also lean into transhumanism, with people uploaded to survive a harsh world.

Yeah, that's true. Humans are pretty simple that way. The best way to reach people who've been pulled into the outrage cycle is by actually approaching it with an open mind and addressing the root issues through honest discussion. Labeling, dismissing, or invalidating their concerns usually just entrenches them further. Approaching topics fairly matters. Just like people can spot grifter bullshit a mile away, they can also smell it when someone isn't engaging in good faith, straw manning points, assuming the worst, or piling on because “their side” said so. And they in turn also do the above to others, and it starts a self perpetuating circle of outrage and reactionary bad faith.

@ick_real They make somewhat cheap meal bars that are around 30g of protein along with a lot of other vitamins, that can be your pill, and meal at the same time. @METRx as an example, is fairly cheap and enough to hit that goal with just one bar. (one of the bigger ones ofc but still)

FYI for new PoE 2 players, when streamers say "mid league" it just means "at any point after the league has started" not "the middle of the league" 😂 "mid league balance" is just easier to say than "balance that happened at any point during the league after it started"
