but your brother realized early that he had full and complete autonomy over his actions. AKA he can choose to follow her rules or do what he wants.
And since the rules didn’t make any sense, and obv there’s more nuance here, he did what he wanted and that build his self esteem up earlier and allowed him to separate from her later without as much grief
When I look back on my own childhood, there were so many moments I should’ve just done what the fuck I wanted to do just because I absolutely could have. and it would’ve built a stronger character
