Oh my just watched Matilda on Netflix and I am uncontrollably sobbing. Wow! They really did that!! This is how a movie musical should be done. BRAVO!!

@deanjohnsonuk It’s a natural evolution that, as the source material used to be books, the source materials move to movies which are easier to fit into 2 hours (as most already do). But there gets to become a snobbery about what is considered “art” whereas it’s about entertainment

@deanjohnsonuk Completely agree. Theatre has to be commercial to survive. If you like something then surely that makes it commercial. It should be full of things people love. And that’s what builds an audience.

A lot is said about movie adaptations to musicals, and how many wish there were more literary adaptations/original stories.
Something not often discussed in this is how film companies lock down all adaptation rights when they option books to movies.

@ATDazzles “Family” shows need the most consideration with pricing. If you expect couples and groups of friends (eg Moulin Rouge) then you can charge more than if you expect someone paying for a family of four (eg Frozen) because the individual’s cost is much higher

@ATDazzles That is horrible to see (although I did be fit from that with Waitress). They build in expected discounts in pricing but often they need bigger discounts because of the level of the price

If you need to upgrade everyone from an entire level when they arrive at the venue cos of how empty the stalls are, you really need to rethink your strategy.

It's always disappointing to see a show with so many unsold seats on the day of its performance. I was worried when I saw how ridiculous the pricing for it was. It's a shame they didnt react to the low demand and now those incredible performers have to play to so many empty seats

The character in & Juliet being named “May” is the perfect comedic long game setup/eventual punchline and no one sees it coming until it’s too late, which makes it funnier.

@JasonManford I got lucky too Jason. Got 4 tickets! Is £6k a fair price? Strange system tho, my laptop was my first login and ended up 40k in queue, my phone was logged in last and only 10 mins before sale started and ended up just 451st in queue?? Weird 🤣
