what’s an intervention?

zero intervention drives have quietly become the default for FSD

@mrmoneymustache @Tesla Owning an automobile is such a 20th century concept. It's time to move on.
English

What do YOU think, fellow @Tesla owners? I personally disagree with almost everything the company has changed about the cars in the past few years.
Bring back more physical controls and don't make people fuck with a touchscreen while driving. Keep autopilot because people want to control their own speed and lane selection sometimes, and so much more. Or watch the sales keep going to competitors.
If I had to replace my 2023 model Y right now, a used one would be more valuable than a new one.

Why are $TSLA people so anti LiDar!? I’ve never met a more closed-minded group of people in my life!
Here are the facts:
1) Waymo has the best self driving record on the planet. And they use lidar.
2) Elon made the decision to eliminate Tesla’s radar and rely solely on vision about 5 or 6 years ago, prior to the new AI neural net approach to the system. Back then, the concern of “what do you do if the sensors tell you to do different things?” was a legit concern. Today, “sensor fusion” is how the input is translated by AI systems, eliminating that concern. The analogy is that additional sensors, like your ears, augment your brains ability to drive even better. They don’t make it worse. Nobody asks “what if your ears tell you to go and eyes tell you to stop”
3) if you’re waiting for Elon to admit additional sensors COULD be helpful, that might never happen because there are millions of Teslas on the road without additional sensors and he’s been selling FSD based on vision-only for a long time. His only option is to double down and make it work with vision only. And I believe he’ll be able to. But that doesn’t mean additional sensors are bad.

@garyblack00 He's burnt out just like the rest of us. That didn't take long. 😄

Other $TSLA story on Bloomberg this morning pushing TSLA lower.
Tesla humanoid robot Optimus' actions during an event in Miami have raised fresh questions about the robot's autonomy.
Optimus appears to take off headset during Tesla’s autonomy visualized event in Miami on Saturday. An Optimus robot can be seen standing behind the counter with bottles of water for the patrons of the event in a video that has surfaced on social media.
The video showcases an Optimus robot mimicking a gesture of taking off a headset, except the robot wasn't wearing any headsets or headgear. The robot then falls to the ground, seemingly powered down. The incident has raised questions about whether the robots were being tele-operated rather than AI-driven as TSLA CEO Elon Musk has maintained. If tele-operated rather than AI-driven, Optimus would clearly not be scalable as it would need one tele-operator for every robot.
The news comes as Tesla had recently showcased its Robot running across the floor, demonstrating life-like movements. The video comes as the Robot had previously showcased martial arts movements alongside an expert.
Musk had claimed that the robot wasn't teleoperated and that the movements were all AI. The robot was also showcased at a movie premiere in Los Angeles.
Musk had earlier also shared that the robot would represent 80% of Tesla's future value. The CEO has claimed that the robot would eradicate poverty, help Japan's labor shortages, as well as be an effective surgeon.
YouTuber JerryRigEverything, aka Zack Nelson, took to the social media platform X to express his views on the matter. "to the moon tho," Nelson said, taking a swipe at Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who has predicted that SpaceX's Starship rocket would carry Optimus robots to space.

If there was any question that Optimus uses teleop for their robots. Here one clearly has a guy take the headset off and it falls over. Absolutely hilarious though.

@cybrtrkguy This is not a "stupid" rule. Allowing right turns on red increases the likelihood of an incident with a pedestrian by over 60%. People need time to cross and the signal phasing that is programmed to provide this window isn't effective when you allow right on red.
English

I believe Tesla is purposely ignoring traffic law in hopes their software will be above it.
And that's a good thing.
FSD V14.2 does not understand what No Turn on Red means. It tried to roll through this morning, twice in a row.
To me, this is example of Tesla purposely ignoring what they call: "stupid rules" (it's one of their core design principles)
If the computer *thinks* it has enough visibility to make a healthy judgement to proceed, it should be able to.
Just like if the computer *thinks* driving a faster than the speed limit is safe, it should be able to.
When there are no drivers, then nobody can break the law.
When nobody can break the law, the law is irrelevant.
Thus, traffic law is obsolete. A legacy feature of old society.

@RolandForTexas As a Tesla shareholder, I will not only be able to buy groceries but also retire early and enjoy life.

@teslaownersSV I'm telling you right now, European countries like the Netherlands aren't going to approve something with doors like this that open up into the bike lanes. Make them lift vertically or slide.
English

@wholemars Smart phone adoption has been identical in many European countries where traffic fatalities have decreased dramatically. It’s about infrastructure design.
English

Looking at US traffic fatalities over the last few decades, it’s clear that it’s the smartphone that has really been the driver of increased deaths on the road.
Since self-driving tech has been available, crashes have been falling every year.
Many want to claim that self-driving cars will kill you, but it seems clear that the real killer is a human driver with a smartphone. (aka everyone). These drivers are statistically just as unsafe as a drunk driver. Vehicle automation and autonomy are the only realistic cure for distracted driving.

@daltonbrewer Its a legit flex. The Model 3 is, without a doubt, the best vehicle in its category and its the cheapest. 🤑

Kiyoko has been with Tesla for 12 years.
She used her hard-earned Tesla stock – and the tremendous value it’s generated over the years – to purchase a new home for her family.
At Tesla, we believe in sharing our success & empowering our people through our employee equity programs. Kiyoko’s journey to homeownership is just one of many examples.
To help us continue building value, opportunity & a bright future for all, we are asking shareholders to follow the Board’s recommendations on ALL proposals

@nicksortor I was stationed at 8th & I back in the day and I think this is pretty cool. I remember President G.W. Bush coming to the barracks to visit. He looked us in the eye, shook our hands, and thanked us for our service. It was sincere and we all appreciated it. 🇺🇸

@daltonbrewer Great news. A lot of people think we have a fixed pie.

@Teslaconomics Seems like it would make more sense to flood the tunnels with Robovans.

I bet one day Boring Tunnels will be flooded w/ Cybercabs

@KRoelandschap Yeah, poor Europeans, they'll just have to find a way to get by with their incredible dangerous streets that are 300% safer than our here in the US.

Riding a Waymo in San Francisco and THIS is what they talk about
How will Waymo comply with the AI act in 2 years from now?
One actually feels sick to her stomach from driving in a Waymo and believes it poses a safety risk 🤦♂️
Europe is doomed

In the U.S. alone, 108 people died yesterday, 108 people will die today, and another 108 people will die tomorrow in vehicle accidents. And yet the national mainstream media won’t say a word about it.
But if ONE Tesla robotaxi, after months of zero injury incidents, merely bumps into a human leg without injury, it will make headlines all over the world.
That’s how fucked the reporting is around autonomous vehicles. Tesla knows this, and they are being ultra cautious with the robotaxi rollout.
Road accidents have killed approximately THREE TIMES MORE Americans than all wars combined. Human operated vehicle accidents have killed over 4 million souls since 1899. Every Tesla engineer working in FSD is a fucking hero.
