It was great to join the Montgomery Moving Forward and Maryland Early Care and Education Coalition celebration on Thursday. Early childhood education is essential our County's future and it was wonderful to see the leaders in and around this space working together!

I grew up in Bethesda, and like many younger families in our community, I see first-hand how the high cost of housing stands as a barrier for people who wish to make a life here. I'm committed to this community and to addressing these affordability challenges head-on.

In today's budget review, I highlight a critical line item focused on enhancing security at faith communities in Montgomery County. As County leaders highlighted recently, these dollars are essential at a time of rising antisemitism and attacks on faith communities across the US.

The two-year tax increase. Dipping into our reserves, our County's savings account, sets us up for another 9% tax increase next year. That turns this year's proposal into a 15% increase over two years, on top of assessment growth. That's not sustainable or affordable.
