@chybyname @GoldenKnights @VGKFlamingo I'll have the only State Treasurer's office in America with a plastic flamingo on a bookshelf! 🤣

8 years ago today, I snuck a plastic lawn flamingo into The Fortress and tossed it on the ice. Over the years, the Victory Flamingo has grown into a #VegasBorn tradition—how @GoldenKnights fans celebrate wins and show appreciation to our incredible team! reviewjournal.com/sports/goldenk…

@LoveOurRepublic You're 100% right! One of my 5 bills as NV State Treasurer will be to expand financial literacy in middle schools and high schools and create a program to help seniors recognize -- and protect themselves against -- financial scams.

If you wonder why we struggle to hire competent high school labor @nvdems who claim during education committee to be the best is failing our kids.
U.S. states require a standalone personal finance course for high school graduation.
25 states — mandatory standalone financial literacy course
~15–20 states — include financial literacy embedded in other courses (economics, math, civics)
Remaining states — no statewide requirement (left to districts)

Remembering Sue Wagner, Nevada's first female elected lieutenant governor. The Republican trailblazer was instrumental in creating the Nevada Commission on Ethics and successfully advocated for women's rights. Take a moment to read about her amazing life: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sue_Wagner

@WCCSG_ As an alumnus, I have to shamefully admit that it's Belmont. The rebrand in the 90s was bad and it's only gotten worse. The Bear looks more slow than scary.

@tylermcscifi @RenoResistance Ballots are not counted until Election Day in most states, so you'd know which candidates dropped out.
English

There's a logistical problem with using RCV/IRV that way: Batch summability. When a candidate drops out, every state now has to go dig back through the ballots to find the next choice on every individual ballot.
A Condorcet system of tabulation would be better for presidential primaries as you envision them. Each state would simply report a 2x2 preference matrix. Then when it is known who the top two candidates are nationally, refer to the box for the head-to-head between those candidates.

English

@RenoResistance I knocked thousands of doors to defeat the RCV ballot measure in Nevada. I've always opposed that and always will.
English

@RenoResistance In PRESIDENTIAL primaries and caucus. You do understand the difference, right? Like when you caucused or Trump in Feb 2024. Not when you vote in June or Nov.
English

@RenoResistance Right. Presidential primaries are spread over months. Right now, you could've already voted in NV, but your preferred candidate drops out after Iowa. How do you still have a say in the process if that happens. It has NOTHING to do with NV primaries or general elections.
English

Is this an accurate statement from the R Street Impact Report: "This paper explores how RCV can improve presidential primaries, both by creating more flexibility for voters as candidates drop out of the race and by more accurately allocating delegates to reflect voters’ preferences."
Sounds like you're advocating for RSV. What am I missing? @NevadaNewsViews @ChuckMuth
English

@RenoResistance So you were suckered into reading a completely fabricated and exaggerated hit piece by someone paid by my opponent, who is polling lower than a school zone speed limit. Here's the actual report: rstreet.org/wp-content/upl… Please let me know if you have questions after reading it.
English

@DrewForNevada I read it here: x.com/NevadaNewsView…
Nevada News & Views@NevadaNewsViews
Ranked choice voting is wildly unpopular with Republican voters. So why did a GOP candidate for Nevada State Treasurer co-author a report promoting it? That’s a question conservative voters deserve answered. (Chuck Muth) nevadanewsandviews.com/why-did-republ…
English

@RenoResistance Someone tried to attack me with that stupidity in my congressional primary. It was proven to be a completely bogus attack. Read the paper (which I wrote about 20% of) and explain how any honest person could make the claim that I think we should have RCV in our elections.
English

@RenoResistance I've never supported RCV for NV. I campaign against it. I wrote a paper considering how to ensure voters in later Republican presidential primary states could have their voices heard if their favorite candidate dropped out after they early voted. To claim I'm for RCV is a lie.
