Here is why ; Superman in the comics has several opponents of similar power, Superman must use strategy to beat General Zod and Doomsday, the Man of Steel in the comics has learned a minimum of martial arts to be competitive, otherwise they defeat him. Homelander, on the other hand, is too powerful in his universe, he is simply too fast and strong for 99% of his adversaries, who have no way of hurting him, if Homelander makes a mistake he doesn't pay for it himself, at most some innocent people die, Homelander's opponents will die anyway, no matter how well they fight. The first time Homelander fought someone with the same powers, he died, in the TV series instead Homelander faced three weaker opponents, however having a better strategy, they forced him to escape.
