Amending this with another unpopular opinion: the trend to end a series with weddings is heteronormativity contaminating queer media, therefore making it less potent and revolutionary as it validates a heterosexual standard for how a *forever relationship* must commence.

Gay marriage is not legal in Japan right now. A lot of BL coming out right now include weddings because they are fighting for it to be legalized. Either through awareness and/or donating some of the proceeds to fight for the cause. This is literally an LGBT rights movement there.
