#AKBA MOHAMMED I have just been informed that my very good friend, Akba Mohammed, who served as the International Relations Officer of the Nation of Islam has passed away. Akba lived in Accra for many years and was very active in the broad anti-imperialist movement. He was a keen participant in the anti-apartheid movement and supported the right of the Cuban people to embark on an independent path to development. He was also an advocate of the Libyan experiment led by Gaddafi and the Venezuelan efforts to build a socialist state. He will be greatly missed.

(The Africa We Want) Africa stands as the world's youngest continent,a demographic reality that positions its people as perhaps the single most valuable asset for both continental renewal and global progress. Those young people creates explosive opportunities for innovation.

@BBSimons Bright, don’t be sad. Many institutions don’t record their history, political parties included. Da Rocha had a lot more to write about. What you are likely advocating is that all institutions, including towns, parties, families like Simmons Family should record their stories.🎈

1. Sometimes, I sit quietly and watch sadly how history is treated in Ghana. 2. Especially once political actors get involved. 3. What numbs my soul the most is the total lack of curiosity. 4. People being so cocksure about stuff. History is so vast that anytime you see too much conviction, beware! 5. People who flaunt history as if they own it and beat their chest about their interpretation are often merely involved in con artistry. They don't know jack! 6. My test today is for NPP-NDC partisans. Those who think they know the political history of Ghana. 7. You have heard of BJ Da Rocha, right? First Chairman of NPP, and before that the first Director of the Ghana School of Law. Without doubt one of the most formidable historical figures of Ghanaian parentage. 8. Well, that is where it gets interesting - parentage. 10 years ago, I found out that BJ Rocha's ancestral lineage laid partly in Nigeria. In fact, the more colourful and consequential part. 9. Whilst his mom's heritage from the Cape Coast Baidoos is significant, his Dad's is something else entirely. 10. BJ Da Rocha's paternal ancestor is the redoubtable Candido Da Rocha of the great Lagos family of that name, often called "Nigeria's first millionaire." Did you know this? 11. The elder Da Rochas were the first to introduce clean water as a service in Nigeria after they built the first mechanised borehole in their mansion in Lagos, Water House. All important Lagosians bought clean water from them until the colonial authorities took over the facility. 12. What is fascinating is that mechanised boreholes and irrigation technologies are a signature move of the Afro-Brazilians who broke free of slavery in 19th Century Brazil and returned to West Africa (many to Accra and Lagos). 13. The Da Rochas, key family of Georgina Wood (former Chief Justice of Ghana), and Azumah Nelson are all famous Afro-Brazilians. 14. What is interesting is that many of them were originally Yoruba or Hausa. The original Nii Azumah Nelson I, the great ancestor of the legendary boxer, for instance, was originally Kangidi Asuman, a Hausa man from Northern Nigeria. Of course, by becoming the first Tabom Mantse, he spawned a new subgroup of the Ga ethnic community in Ghana. 15. I bring all this stuff up just to say that until 10 years ago, I had no idea about this side of BJ Da Rocha. 16. Yet I had been doing mouth-mouth about Ghana's political history! 17. More shockingly, many NPP "stalwarts" I asked had no clue either. 18. The depth of history among Ghanaian elites is really low. 19. History is often merely a source of slogans. 20. Don't follow their lead. Be humble. Be curious. Search for truth. And let no one confuse you with their confidence!

#RTP AWARDS I have been informed that I have been selected for induction into the prestigious Radio and Television Personality (RTP) @RTPAwardsgh Hall of Fame tomorrow, Saturday, February 7, 2026. I have in all humility accepted the award not just as a recognition of my modest contribution to journalism in Ghana but also as a tribute to all those who have contributed to shaping my career over the last 57 years. First, I like to recognize Mr. Frank Otchere, who introduced me to Radio in 1969, Mr. Sam Arthur who taught me journalism at the Ghana Institute of Journalism from 1972 to 1974, Mr. Kwame Gyawu Kyem who edited “The Ghanaian Times” when I joined the staff in 1974, and Mr. K.B. Brown who appointed me as a Senior Reporter of the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in 1975. I cannot mention all those who played special roles in my development as a journalist in this very short post, but they include, Mike Eghan, Kofi Koomson, Zaya Yeebo, Napoleon Abdulai, Kabral Blay-Amihere, Dan Ansah, Professor Atta Britwum, Kweku Baako Kakraba, Alhaji Baturi, Baffoe-Bonnie, Nana Ohene Ntow , Yaw Opoku, Frank Fiawo, Emelia Cromwell Adama and my entire family which has sacrificed so much for me. Thank You All.

The decision by coach Pape Thiaw to lead his team off the pitch following the disputed penalty had a profound psychological impact: it unsettled the Moroccan players, silenced the home crowd, and fundamentally altered the rhythm and dynamics of the match. Absent that act of resistance, Díaz would likely not have missed his penalty, nor would the opposition have been sufficiently galvanised to find a winning goal. Yet, expecting certain individuals to grasp the constructive power of resistance is often futile, akin to explaining quantum physics to a primary school student. A culture habituated to passive acquiescence: enduring exploitation and resigning outcomes to divine will; cannot readily appreciate defiance. Senegalese identity, by contrast, is rooted in dignity, pride, and the refusal to submit quietly to injustice.

#APPRECIATION This is to express my deepest thanks to President Mahamoud Abbas of the State of Palestine and the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) for the award of the “Medal of Appreciation” on November 29, 2025. I accept this award on behalf of all my comrades and friends from the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) in Ghana and the Socialist Movement of Ghana (SMG), who continue to work selflessly to improve the understanding of the struggles of the people of Palestine against apartheid occupation and for national independence. It is the work of thousands of people including professional colleagues (Journalists) which has drawn attention to my modest contribution to the global effort to end the Zionist occupation of Palestine We cannot underestimate the work of the International Socialist Organization (ISO), the All African PeoplesRevolutionary Party (AAPRP), and the Economic Freedom Fighters, in the struggle to free Palestine. I am fully convinced that Palestine will be free in the not-too-future. Victory is certain

I spent my day yesterday with Rice Farmers in the Northern Regions and it's another sad story. Staff layoffs amidst heaps of rice harvest getting rotten in the fields. Nobody is buying our local rice and we are allowing smugglers flood our markets with foreign rice. #GetGhanaRice

Today, various inter-town football matches were held across the region, bringing together vibrant youth and enthusiastic supporters from different communities. The passion, unity, and sportsmanship displayed were truly inspiring. My sincere appreciation goes to all MMDCEs, Members of Parliament, and community leaders for their immense support in making these games successful. I also commend our energetic youth for turning out in large numbers and participating actively. As we conclude the inter-town stage, preparations are already underway for the inter-district competitions, which will begin immediately after. Together, we are building a stronger, united, and active Ashanti Region through sports and community engagement. ⚽🏆 #AshantiYouth #SportsForDevelopment #UnityThroughSports #AshantiRising

@Gen_Buhari_ @AgbelimorK59060 Gen Buhari, let’s be realistic. If all those who benefited from FSHS were trained in technical/vocational skills, don’t you think they would all have skills to provide technical support to Ghana’s development and provide themselves with jobs ?
