I have so much appreciation for Duang in this scene. he strikes a perfect balance by staying on the sidelines at first, giving qin and his family the space they need to talk. he acts as a silent anchor, recognizing that qin isn't ready to walk this emotional journey alone. however, the most powerful moment is when duang steps up when qin desperately calls for him, by this, he effectively shields qin from further pain, taking on the weight that qin has been carrying by himself for years. it shows that duang isn't just a witness to qin's life; he is an active partner in his healing, giving qin that hug that he desperately needs from his actual parents. this kind of support is incredibly moving. he doesn't try to take over the conversation, but he makes sure qin doesn't have to drown in it. for someone like qin, who grew up feeling isolated in his own home, having someone finally stand up with him is a life-changing experience. it’s a beautiful depiction of how the best support is knowing when to stay quiet and when to step in and be a person's strength.
