Struggling to stay on the ball? You’re not alone.

Flying open… pulling off… missing pitches you should crush — it all comes back to one thing: your ability to stay on the ball.
Fixing this means:
• More barrels
• Better adjustability
• Hitting offspeed without guessing
• Driving the ball to all fields
I made a video breaking down 4 simple ways to improve this fast — things you can start working on today + use in the game!
Stop pulling off pitches you should be hammering.
Your feelings can help you keep critical matters in the proper perspective and can enable you, depending on the circumstances, to be better prepared to handle
adversity.
In order to ensure that you get as much as possible out of such an opportunity, you should take the time to carefully reflect on how you truly feel about competition.

Understanding the Meaning of True Competition
In the football arena, competition not only involves winners and losers, it also serves as a meaningful opportunity for the development, exercise and expression of human excellence.
@coachzblair10 I agree I actually even think in youth levels if the kid needs challenged he should play up. I see far too many good players doing the reverse.
HS Coaches: Why are some of you against freshmen playing varsity? If they're good enough, why not? Barring work ethic is the same. Isn't the goal to make the team as good as it possibly can be? I don't care if the senior has seniority. If he's not better than the freshman, he shouldn't play!
Hey, players and parents...here is your annual reminder that college coaches and pro scouts don't care what you do at 14 or 15 (and even 16). Keep your focus on getting better...always.
How many more games could your team WIN a season (at any level), if players could execute the following:
OFFENSE:
- Stepped in box ready to attack
- Battled with 2 strikes
- Ran hard on all contact
- Two stolen bases or more
- Could sac, drag, squeeze
DEFENSE:
- Pitchers: 2 or less walks a game
- Induced soft contact 4 pitches/less
- 1 error or less a game
- 1 double play or more a game
- Picked off 1 or more base runners
- Hit cutoff man
- OF backed up bases every play

Coaches,
We need to lead with the understanding that we are developing more than just ball players, we are guiding the next generation of coaches, teachers, parents, spouses & leaders. We need to show them what respect, compassion, empathy, grit and mental toughness is.
LEAD THEM
Ever felt the sting of giving your all, only to see things not work out? My dad used to say, “You learn more about someone when things are hard.”
In this episode of #GCWMF with FSU Coach Mike Norvell, we explore leadership and resilience.

The process & development of athletes is MESSY!
- It isn't a perfectly edited + scripted Instagram reel
Let's make sure players & parents understand that
Bring on the:
- Setbacks
- Adjustments
- Injuries
- Fighting off tears
- Nights that make you stay up + overthink
One of my biggest struggles with the youth sports culture is the lack of adults who understand “potential” and what “the process” really means. Most are looking for the next best athlete (early bloomer) to add to their roster while pushing away and denying those who in their eyes “aren’t ready” yet, aka, haven’t hit the same development milestones as their early bloomed peers.
On the flip side, there is never a better story than those late bloomers who stuck with it, kept working hard and worked through the confidence issues brought on by the atmosphere. The life skills learned and engrained will absolutely help them in life.
Puberty is a game changer. It can completely change them, their strength, coordination and confidence. Coaches, we are here to teach them and help them prepare. The goal is to help them lay a solid foundation so when their body starts changing, they are ready to take full advantage of it.
