This trade makes absolutely zero sense for Dallas. Trading Anthony Davis for that return is franchise malpractice. Middleton’s solid but you’re downgrading massively, and those picks won’t replace what AD brings. Mavs just torpedoed their championship window for role players and futures.

Michael Porter Jr was always a bucket 🪣 He was the top ranked player of his high school class and was expected to be the face of the league before his back injuries. Once he was healthy, MPJ wasn't given much of a spotlight to show what he could really do with how loaded the Nuggets were. No ISOs and pin downs. Just a lot of standing by the corner and occasional back cuts to the rim. When things went well, Porter was an afterthought. But whenever things go south, he was the scapegoat. The Nuggets were so convinced Porter was damaged goods that they even added a future first round pick to get rid of him 👀 As option number one, Porter is averaging career highs while being just as efficient and playing the same amount of minutes last season. Here's his numbers last season compared to his numbers through his first 27 games with the Nets: 🔸18.2 PTS ➡️25.9 PTS 🔸7.0 REB ➡️ 7.6 REB 🔸2.1 AST ➡️ 3.4 AST 🔸50.4 FG% ➡️49.5% 🔸39.5 3PT%➡️ 40.8 3PT% 🔸33.7 MINS ➡️ 33.0 MINS His PPG average is top 15 in the league. His offensive box +/- (a stat that measures how good a player is for his team when he's on and off the court) is 8th best in the NBA. As someone dubbed by Basketball Reference as "Never Swing The Rock," MPJ is averaging even more assists as the focal point on offense.  Turns out the player everyone waited on never disappeared after all.
