Swimathon 2025: an inspiring story from Charles who suffered a stroke 12 yrs ago, a spinal injury 7 yrs ago and now walks with a crutch. He is doing the @swimathon Triple 5km and has so far raised £1150 for Cancer Research and £500 for Disability Action Yorkshire.

Swimathon 2025: Well done to Jerry who completed 1.5km today. He has taken part in @swimathon every year since it started and says that Yearsley Swimming Pool is the best pool in York, if not the region!

Swimathon 2025: Oliver loves swimming and this year he's used the @swimathon event to also raise money for his local football team, with £650 raised so far. He completed the first of his Triple 5km today and celebrated with a Nandos delivered to the pool as he left!

Swimathon 2025: Dermot lives in Devon and has come to York to visit family and managed to fit in @swimathon as well! He swims twice a week and challenged himself to do the 5km as he's only completed the distance twice before.

Swimathon 2025: Kristopher set himself the @swimathon challenge of a 5km swim for his 40th birthday and he completed it today! He said he was buzzing as he's never covered the distance whilst swimming or running before!

Swimathon 2025: As a child Helen swam her first length at Yearsley Pool and today she completed a @swimathon 5km. Helen loves swimming and will be taking part in a 5km swim in Salford Docks in May and a Channel Swim Relay later this year.

@duttie @swimathon Who are ‘they’ that are wanting to close YOUR community swimming pool? What position/s do they hold? And why are ‘they’ wanting to take such a valuable, fun, health promoting and economic asset away from your community. Finally who stands to gain from the closure and who loses?

@Duncan_Goodhew @swimathon Hi Duncan I’m one of the trustees of Whitchurch community swimming pool in Hampshire. We are trying to save the outdoor pool as a non profit charity - they want to fill the pool in. I wondered if there was anyway you could help and support us please
