@di_eight_ether @Theurb It's not even our empire! Imperial units are based off of British units from 300 years ago. In Britain today they still use some units that aren't metric but they're not always the same as American! British pints are 568mL. American pints are 473mL.

@Beginning_BKN For the grilling type of BBQ in the rest of America some of those sides are also common. Also grilled corn, grilled asparagus, salads, or pasta salad. And many more for both types I'm forgetting. Meat is the focus but rarely is it without other foods around it.

@Beginning_BKN Part of the problem is that BBQ means two very different things in America. In the South where it originated BBQ means smoking meat, not grilling. They have lots of sides like corn bread, potato salad, coleslaw, collard greens, baked beans, or mac and cheese.

この絵とか派生のツイートがやたらとアメリカでバズっている理由、ちょっと追いかけてみると中西部・南部の人たちの地元意識にめっちゃ働きかけているというか、米国内における青い州と赤い州の対抗意識みたいなものが受けている理由の一つになっているっぽい
それはそれとして日本人のアメリカ観って西部劇映画の輸入が一つの楔になっているので、摩天楼のアメリカより中西部こそが真のUSAという刷り込みも受けているかとは思う
