Excited for Christian Parker and what he can bring to this defense but as of now we are expecting a lot from Revel, Eze (coming off injury), hitting on 2 1st rounders, Daron Bland coming off his 2nd foot surgery and whoever plays nickel. Still 50% of starters with ?

@Marcus_Mosher They are current expecting 2 2nd year players (Eze and Revel) and 2 1st round rookies to come in and be key pieces for this defense next year. They have not learned their lesson when it comes to depending on potential for players that have yet to show "it"

And this was the exact fear that many of us had when the Rashan Gary trade happened.
He's a fine piece. But he can't be the only veteran pass rusher you bring in.
And asking a rookie to be the No. 1 EDGE rusher is too much!

@Marcus_Mosher Yeah I like both acquisitions but it just can’t be all they do. They need at least one LB and probably another because you can’t trust Overshown to play healthy, a nickel or a safety pending how they use Thompson, another pass rusher, and an outside corner for insurance. It’s bad

Cowboys have been largely wiped out at LB. Been a tough day there in Dallas, no other way to put it.
I’m keeping an eye on Patrick Queen at the moment. A handful of teams have called Pittsburgh about a trade here (including the Eagles). Dallas has kept a hand in that mix for this exact scenario, but there are still some things to work through and conversations behind the scenes to be had there.
Sounds like Pittsburgh is hunting down a mid-round pick. I personally think the best they can get is a fifth-rounder which would work in Dallas’ favor (can’t really give up a 4 or better). We’ll keep a pulse on it. Nothing imminent, but worth monitoring at this point.
Kaden Elliss and Leo Chenal are the best available names on the market. Cowboys will need to get creative if they want an impact player there or just hope the draft board falls their way at No. 12/20.

@Marcus_Mosher @PFF Also another contract with no flexibility. 1 year $10M. Would make no sense to not just do the Devin Lloyd deal, get the significantly better player, more cap flexibility and no trade capital. They love their 1 year inflexible deals after all

I can tell you the Cowboys were still talking to Lloyd when I checked in at 7:30 tonight but there was a sense his price was gonna be a little high for them. Patrick Queen still one I’m watching

Going to be super disappointing if they don’t add an impact edge rusher via free agency or trade.
Relying on anyone in the draft to complete fix their pass rush is a really bad idea.
