The breakfasts are not free. They are paid for by taxes - mostly on parents who feed their own kids. Most of these 10,000 children would have had a perfectly healthy breakfast at home without these clubs. This isn't about helping the poorest kids, it's the state taking over the basic job of parenting.

What really pisses me off about the discourse around whether or not they should put it in the show is that the argument of “people won’t take it seriously enough/fetishize it” also applies to literally any depiction of SA in media, the only reason people are insisting that this immaturity of the audience is a legitimate reason for not depicting a key plot point from the source material is because the victim is a man.
