Glad to launch the Book of Craft Documentation of Tribal Women Artisans of Arunachal Pradesh. Commissioned by the Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Deptt., Arunachal Pradesh and undertaken by the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad - this extensive study brings out the creativity, skills and resilience of the our Tribal women artisans of Arunachal Pradesh. The study maps traditional practices, ranging from loin loom weaving, cane & bamboo craft, bell metal, beaded jewellery, clay pottery, carpet making etc; while situating them within broader cultural and ecological systems. Through extensive fieldwork, the report highlights both challenges and aspirations, offering insights to guide inclusive, sustainable interventions. Recognising crafts as heritage and livelihood, the report positions women artisans not only as beneficiaries but also as agents of change in Arunachal Pradesh’s evolving craft economy.
