Soldiers besieged the Umuahia home of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu with armoured personnel carriers. Civilians were shot along motorways leading into Umuahia. Kanu's parents lost their lives. The Army raided the Abia State office of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, assaulted staff and destroyed equipment. A stampede erupted at Ariaria International Market in Aba after soldiers opened fire. No official accountability. No prosecution. No apology. Now in 2026, a new military operation, Operation Udoka, is being planned for the same South East. History is trying to repeat itself.
