Can’t stress to you just how cool Ural Owls are. Big, beastly birds, genuinely get chills when you heard them hooting and barking away in the ancient boreal forests in Estonia. One of 18 we caught up with in 4 full days, and most of those seen before dark.

Stumbling across this day-roosting Ural Owl just a couple metres off the floor along the edge of a forest track was something special! Locking eyes as we initially drove past, before slowly creeping back for this view.

Not many better ways to start our trip than by twitching this showy Northern Hawk-Owl. Having not been seen since the 24th Feb, landing on the 7th March to news from @TarvoValker that it'd reappeared meant for the best possible start to our trip! Where the Owl theme started...

An incredible experience cage diving with Great White Sharks at the Titi Islands. This shark was tagged here in early 2025 and has since been up to Fiji and returned back to the Titi Islands just a few days before my trip. Incredible animals.

Spent some time this morning with the Steller's Sea Eagles and White-tailed Eagles. Unfortunately, our boat was cancelled due to strong winds despite two other boats going out, so had to get these shots from the shore.

Final morning in north Wales with @paullegge25 my first walk from llanfairfechan to Morfa Madryn… stunning! 2 dipper, ybw heard only (showed later🙄) firecrest seen by me only 🫣, Chiffchaff, gs woodpecker, bullfinch, wigeons, curlews, oycs, mipits, skylarks, little egret.

We have now moved on to the second leg of our Brazil trip: Alagoas. An area I missed on my previous NE Brazil trip and one with a number of rare & range restricted species & this will certainly be the rarest; Orange-bellied Antwren, with a world population of about 20 pairs!
