@shanselman @RimaSukhadia You too can learn how to destroy prod by giving Claude unrestricted access to your infra! I'd pay to learn how to do this.

@Al_Grigor There's the old adage "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" so I'm going to keep my mouth shut.

Claude Code wiped our production database with a Terraform command. It took down the DataTalksClub course platform and 2.5 years of submissions: homework, projects, and leaderboards. Automated snapshots were gone too. In the newsletter, I wrote the full timeline + what I changed so this doesn't happen again. If you use Terraform (or let agents touch infra), this is a good story for you to read. alexeyondata.substack.com/p/how-i-droppe…

@IamKyros69 I had an Amstrad Basic when I was kid - 6ish. It came with a massive manual & at the back were games in Basic - type them out, get them to work & you had a game to play! cpcwiki.eu/imgs/b/bb/A_tu… See from page 104. This is how I became interested & just generally kept reading

How did people even learn to code when there was no docs, no YouTube… nothing? Genuinely curious.

I don't believe in "junior" programmers. It's a pejorative, a way of asserting one's own superiority. I do believe in "effective" and "ineffective" programmers, and that has nothing to do with age or how long you've been programming. I've met ineffective programmers (many of whom looked down their noses at the "juniors") who have been ineffective for their entire careers. Both categories of programmers make mistakes. Neither category knows everything. The difference is that effective programmers are eager to learn and see their mistakes as learning experiences. I also usually see a correlation between effectiveness and a willingness to admit fault and get help. That's easiest to do with psychological safety (Google it—it's not some woo-woo hippie concept) and a collaborative environment where people at all skill levels literally work together. The good news is that it's never to late to start learning.
