If you plan to use the 4-2-2-2 as your main formation, you can also transform it into the good old 4-2-1-3. Another META formation that always works in any situation.
You gonna have to have one of the 2 CFs or the SS to be able to play as AMF.
I don’t have any particular indication on the playing styles of each players, especially up front.
My recommendation is to always have a poacher, fox in the box and a deep line forward/creative playmaker/prolific winger at your disposal. Better if they are fast and with Very High on weak foot.
I’d play this with Long Ball Counter and the 4-2-2-2 with Out Wide.

As you know I've been back on PlayStation full time. And I am perfectly aware about the higher latency and lower frame rate. To fight that I wanted to test different formations and, while usually I stay away from META ones, I've decided to give it a go. The 4-2-2-2 is probably the most used one among the top 100 and I found out it seems very suitable for my playstyle. The beauty of it is the movement of the AMFs, they come back and support the defensive phase, but ready to fly forward when you get the ball back. Close to Vieira pick a Box-to-Box, he will help you to manage both phases and a good interceptor: Seedorf is ok, but if you have a long-leg-one i.e. Rice or Bellingham is good as well. One of the 2 AMFs should be a Hole player, both even better, but the unpredictability of a creative playmaker (I suggest you the previous Arda Guler) is unmatched. 2 CFs: One Goal Poacher, One Fox in the Box.
