FCPA John Mbadi @JohnMbadiN today received a delegation from the East Africa Bond Exchange (EABX), a licensed OTC Securities Exchange under @CMAKenya, to align its operations with Kenya’s debt management priorities and deepen the domestic bond market. .Building on this agenda, EABX is seeking facilitation by @KeTreasury and @CBKKenya to access the Dhow Central Securities Depository, unlocking new investment avenues, enhancing liquidity and cutting borrowing costs key to a stronger, more efficient debt market. .The CS reaffirmed Government’s commitment to market driven reforms that entrench neutrality, efficiency & integrity in line with global best practice, anchoring Kenya’s position as a competitive regional financial hub.

The East Africa Bond Exchange (EABX) has received regulatory approval for OTC bond trading, setting the stage for competition with the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) for the Kes 734.0 bln annual bond turnover market. The approval comes just a fortnight after the IMF Staff Report on Kenya's 6th review indicated commitment by the government to set up an OTC market to complement the NSE.
