As the alliance representing the #plant-based value chain, we call on all Members of the EP to reject this amendment and to stand with #consumers, #farmers, and #innovators. Europe needs policies that enable clarity, fairness, and innovation, not red tape. 👇

The recent vote in the European Parliament’s #Agriculture Committee to restrict the use of everyday terms such as “burger” and “sausage” for plant-based foods is a step backwards for Europe’s food system. 👇

🧠 Only 9% of consumers don’t recognize plant-based meat alternatives. The current denominations clearly work — for people and for sustainability. Restricting them risks real harm: undermining clarity, limiting consumer choice, and putting the brakes on a growing sector.

🔍Transparent food labelling is a consumer right, not a regulatory afterthought. Europe needs harmonised, science-based labelling rules that reflect how people make food choices and support the transition to healthier, more sustainable diets.

Consumers deserve access to clear information that enables them to choose sustainable and healthy food options. ⚖️Restrictions on terminology for plant-based food products risk limiting transparency, stifling innovation, & adding complexity with no benefits for consumers.

Consumers are not concerned about using names like ‘veggie burger’ or ‘plant-based sausage’, as long as it’s clear the product is #vegetarian or #vegan. This is a clear signal to #EU policymakers that people value clarity & are in favor of harmonised, evidence-based labelling. 💡
