As the Easter bank holiday weekend approaches, we will be altering our opening hours. All bank holidays we will close however, our lines remain open for our Saturday advice session between 10am and 2pm.

Another quick fact about the Equality Act: In relation to disability discrimination it’s not discriminatory to treat a disabled person more favourably than a non-disabled person.

This week is our first full week back of 2026. Just a reminder that our opening hours are back to usual. Monday to Friday 9am to 7pm and Saturday 10am to 2pm.

We are making some slight adjustments to our opening hours over the Christmas period. Christmas Eve until New Years Eve our core hours will be 9am to 5pm. We are closed for all the bank holidays including Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day along with Sat 27th December.

EASS Helpline was successful in helpling a man who had been racially targeted by a bus driver. Our advice helped the caller resolve the issue and highlight how the actions had been discriminatory.

Did you know? You need a comparator for direct discrimination and it’s important that the comparator is in the same or similar circumstances with no material difference.

Unwanted conduct covers a wide range of behaviour including spoken or written words, physical gestures, imagery, jokes, pranks, facial expressions etc.

Racial segregation is always discriminatory and there is no need for a comparator. However this must be a deliberate act rather than it happening inadvertently. For other protected characteristics it will be necessary to show it amounts to less favourable treatment.
