QOTD: What's one high school football rule you'd love to see removed/changed? Ours.. Change the rule where if your ball-carriers knee touches the ground, he's down and plays dead. Adopt the NFL rule where runners are "down by contact". This would be an easy change to the rules.

@coachdeesmith “Buying in” is literally just fullfilling a commitment of playing a game that includes other 7 year olds. Pretty low bar homie. I mean it’s pretty cool when 7 excited kids get dressed and ready just to learn they can’t play because a couple kids don’t feel like playing that day.

87% of statistics are made up on the spot. I've seen weightrooms run by PE majors with a great environment and kids doing great things, and ones run by CSCS that were complete $hit - and vice-versa. Certifications don't guarantee passion, commitment and dedication.

@jaredkeesee @CoachStokowski I do not disagree. But just like in football, the competition involves three teams - yours, theirs, and the officials. All are real and all are human. When the guy in the white stripes or the funny hat/orange sleeve gives you a directive, it’s time to adjust. Cheer later.

@EBFootball @CoachStokowski He was warned for flexing to a photographer AFTER completing an earlier race. At some point you have to let kids enjoy the moment and celebrate the success that their hard work brought them. And none of that was taunting which is what they dinged him for.

Fluctuating heavily For that, they’re expected to coach year-round, run a program, mentor kids, manage parents, recruit their own halls, fundraise, break down film, coordinate staffs, and be available almost 24/7. Football coaches are grossly underpaid for what we ask of them.
