@KySportsRadio Pope is a bullshitting clown. We’ve seen all we need to see from him. He shouldn’t get a third year. Cut bait now and start the rebuild with a competent coach.

Mark Pope on his radio show compares Kentucky the last two years to Kentucky the four years prior
Keith Taylor@keithtaylor21

Pope says Cats haven't met goals, but making progress. ... "I'm not talking about meeting the standard of where we're trying to get. Clearly, we did not do that, but we are making progress in in the four years before we got here, we won one game in Nashville. In the last two years, we've won three games in Nashville, and clearly the seed hasn't been a good as good. But in the last two years, we lost to the number five and the number six team in the country to be to be put out of the SEC tournament. "In the four years previous, we lost to number nine, number 35 number 67 and number 81 to be knocked out of the SEC tournament. In the last two years, we've won three games in the NCAA Tournament. In the previous four years, we won one game total in the NCAA Tournament. That doesn't tell the whole story, but for the people that love Kentucky, they just want to know that we're making progress. Those are real hard, solid numbers that may be surprising. Go look them up. The winning percentage is higher. The NCAA Tournament success is higher. The strength of schedule is ridiculously more difficult, and all of that done in the context of having one of the most unfortunate health trends in the history of Kentucky basketball. And so in those sense, senses like we haven't met our goals, clearly, but we are making progress in that part of society. And I really bring that up because I think at times, our guys feel like, man, everybody says this is the worst it's ever been. It's not. "We're actually making positive project. We're making positive progress by the numbers and and I'm grateful for the work and the commitment of our guys, and we're going to keep going. And the thing is, we have to keep getting better and better and better as we as we grow this program to the point where we're actually hanging a banner. And this is all part of the process, and we have nothing in our offices, in our locker room besides hope and excitement for the future."

@watisthishere @BleedBNetwork You’re either living in a dream world or just plain stupid. The entire administration stinks of corruption to the high heaven. Take off your blue colored glasses

@BleedBNetwork UK Athletics are in a great position. Sure, Men's Basketball hasn't made it as far into march as we'd have liked, but there have been other wins. The biggest challenge will be convincing somone to come to UK as AD knowing fans like you are this stupid as shown in your post

Don’t care what anyone says. -Mitch Barnhart is not a good AD -He’s not a good person -He’s the main reason UK athletics is in the position they are in. -He has NO respect for the fans and thinks you should be grateful for this garbage you’ve been fed. Meanwhile, the Kentucky administration doesn’t think you, the fans even deserve an interview to explain the decision to pay this failure $950K instead of investing it into the program. No, they just expect YOU to pay MORE and shut up in the process! There needs to be a full court press, demanding top to bottom change or the fans need to stop spending money. You’ve been taken advantage of long enough! @UKMitchBarnhart @UKYpressident @UKAthletics

@KySportsRadio The season is a failure regardless. It’s stupid that fans have to endure another year of Pope failing for the university to consider making a change. We’ve seen all we need to see from Pope. He’s a lousy coach.

There are no “trap games” when you are a 7 seed. Kentucky is better than Santa Clara. But they can lose. And if they do, the season is a failure But BBN being scared of Santa Clara is silly to me.
James@2Jaaaamez

@KySportsRadio Completely disagree. Other than first weekend being in St Louis, we pulled a trap game round 1 followed by everyone’s favorite dark horse champion squad in Iowa St

@KySportsRadio He would be begging for a GM if the university administration made it clear to him that his return for a third season depends entirely on who he signs this spring from the transfer portal, the high school class, and elsewhere. He has no fear of being fired. That’s the problem.

There is no way to call this regular season anything but disappointing. 19-12 and a 10 seed in the SEC Tournament with the preseason hype and the roster cost is just not acceptable The SEC Tournament and NCAA Tournament give a chance to change the narrative. We shall see

@KySportsRadio Failure. No other way around it. One more year and if we aren’t back to being Kentucky Basketball the we must part ways and look for another option (Todd Golden possibly).

@KySportsRadio I legitimately do not know how Pope got the job at Kentucky. In his previous stops he had one 25 win season, no regular season conference championship, no Conference tournament championship, no NCAA tournament wins. He simply wasn’t qualified for the job.

@KySportsRadio 3 starters out I’m actually impressed with our record. @CoachMarkPope is a good coach. You can tell because he makes great adjustments. People need to chill with him needing gone. Nobody wants to coach with our fans. Especially way they are treating this team.

@ZachRozzay @KySportsRadio Pope is responsible for signing an injured player who has fleeced the program by refusing to play and he chose to sign only one point guard. Those stupid decisions are 100% on Pope.

@KySportsRadio I’m not sure pope is the guy. But to ignore the fact that 3 of our big pieces never played isn’t right. Not having a starting point guard alone is very tough. Add in our top 5 draft pick that never came back like he was supposed to and Kam and this is what happens

@KySportsRadio Pope DOES NOT deserve a 3rd year. I’ve seen all I need to see from him. Nothing will change next year. No recruits ave the program is in complete shambles. Three years is not needed to evaluate a coach in the NIL and Portal era.

Kentucky somehow ended up covering the opening spread You can’t consistently give up 15 point first half deficits and be a good team Postgame Show around 7:40

13-0 run Kentucky has just consistently given up these runs all year that are just to hard to overcome against a great team 11-0 in 3 minutes and then another 13-0 in 2 minutes It’s just inexcusable

In all seriousness, the whole Mitch 4 year retirement deal looks suspect to me for many reasons But to claim it’s an academic job with no role in Athletics but paid for by Athletics makes absolutely no sense And of course UK hasn’t taken one public question about it

Mitch Barnhart had a great tenure as AD at Kentucky and it is without question that he improved the Athletic Department in every way. Like every leader he has had ups and downs but overall Kentucky has been very lucky to have him I wish him nothing but happiness in retirement
