With the initial support of the Kay Yow "Cancers that Affect Women" grant in 2019, Angeles Alvarez Secord, MD, MHSc and Duke Cancer Institute created an Endometrial Cancer Consortium. The Endometrial Cancer Consortium is an observational, multi-site research study.

Dr. Secord has been instrumental in efforts to address the impact of health disparities among those with endometrial cancer and the need to ensure studies are more diverse so that exploration of underlying tumor biology is equitable.

Furthermore, Dr. Secord has been working on national-level White House Cancer Moonshot initiatives, along with Duke Cancer Institute colleagues.

We are proud to spotlight the work of our PI behind the Endometrial Cancer Consortium, Angeles Alvarez Secord, MD, MHSc. Dr. Secord was installed as president of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) at the 2023 Annual Meeting on Women’s Cancer in March.

We can’t accomplish this alone. Please join us in supporting those who have been diagnosed with endometrial cancer.

With this information we hope to identify the right targeted therapies for treatment based on the tumor makeup and provide individualized care for our patients. Our goal is to decrease the burden of endometrial cancer, improve survival outcomes, and accelerate research progress.

June is nationally recognized as Cancer Survivor Month, providing an opportunity to celebrate the milestone of survivorship for all cancer survivors across the world and recognize those that have supported them throughout the course of their journey.
