Through its colleges, ECSA-HC is actively addressing this gap by training the next generation of specialists. The handover ceremony, moderated by Dr. Ntuli Kapologwe, reflected continuity of leadership, a shared regional purpose, and collective stewardship of the health agenda across ECSA–HC Member States. In the handover remarks, Hon. Baloyi underscored the responsibility and trust vested in the Chairpersonship of the Health Ministers Conference the highest decision-making body within the East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community governance structure. As Hon. The opening session was officiated by Her Excellency Thulisile Dladla, Right Honourable Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Eswatini, who also delivered the Keynote Address. In her remarks, the Guest of Honour underscored that equity, resilience, and sustainability must move beyond rhetoric to concrete action, calling on Member States to strengthen governance, invest in resilient health systems, and ensure no community is left behind. She further emphasized the urgent need for sustainable domestic health financing, warning that over-reliance on external funding weakens resilience and urging leaders to translate regional commitments into measurable national impact. The session featured the launch of the WHO Guidance and Toolkit on Scaling Innovations in Public Health Systems, underscoring the region’s commitment to evidence-driven and scalable solutions. Welcome remarks were delivered by Dr. Ntuli Kapologwe, Director General of ECSA-HC, followed by remarks from AUDA-NEPAD, Africa CDC, the WHO Representative to Eswatini, Hon. Madalitso Baloyi (MP), Chairperson of the ECSA-HC Health Ministers Conference and Minister of Health and Sanitation of the Republic of Malawi, and Hon. Mduduzi Matsebula (MP), Minister of Health of the Kingdom of Eswatini, who formally welcomed and introduced the Guest of Honour. The opening was also attended by H.E. ECSA-HC leadership expressed deep gratitude to His Majesty and the people of the Kingdom of Eswatini for graciously hosting ECSA-HC activities and for the warm hospitality extended ahead of the 76th Health Ministers’ Conference, taking place 3–5 February 2026.
