An incredible variety of birds at Port Meadow today considering its proximity to Oxford city centre - Ring-billed (briefly at 12:47), Little, Caspian and Med Gulls; 2 Blackwits; Woodcock over; Great Egret; Goosander; Kingfishers constantly; 2 Oycs and great numbers of Pintail...
The Killdeer appeared shortly before 8am this morning on the wet grass behind Ripley Farm Reservoir. It was also nice to see the Little Gull sat on the water and a "flock" of 4 White-tailed Eagles flying over the pig fields behind it.

A rather unexpected pair of HOODED MERGANSERs at New Hythe Kent, found by @glennh534 Honey today. Irrespective of their providence, they were smart birds to watch and also appreciated by the locals! With @a1virginia
Finally caught up with the Black-winged Kite at Ludham Bridge yesterday after a cold six-hour wait. 4 Cranes were nice interim entertainment.
A bit more local birding today but I still managed Red-necked Grebe, Long-tailed Duck, 2 Scaup and 2 Jack Snipe all within Beds!
A very decent (albeit distant) haul at Tongue Fen this morning with the Snow Goose, 2 Tundra Beans, 11+ White-fronts and 3+ Bewick's Swans amongst c200 Whoopers. Also had a Cattle Egret, 8 Goosanders and an unseasonal Common Sandpiper between here and Spalding.
@Lincsbirding
Not quite as consistent as previous days but I eventually saw the Lesser Crested Tern at a couple of places across the Exe Estuary today. A Shag and 2 Red-breasted Mergansers were also decent - and some nice rainbows between the showers!
Dusky Warbler at Westgate, Kent, this afternoon - calling frequently and showing occasionally under the cliffs near the beach huts. Been a few years since my last one of these Asian migrants. @RareBirdAlertUK@LeeEvansBirding@KentishPlover#birding
Some great birds arond North Foreland this morning, the highlights being "the" Pallid Swift and a Black Redstart near Botany Bay Hotel and the Dusky Warbler at Foreness Point (more skulky than usual given the park run taking place right around its favoured area!)
@KentishPlover
Another trip out to Suffolk this morning for the Brown Shrike at Hollesley Common, which showed well on the fenceline after the sun emerged. Also a Crossbill and Redpoll over, plus 2 late Swallows.
A successful morning in Ramsgate with a few nice glimpses of the very skulky Radde's Warbler, tough to pin down but calling occasionally. Also several active Yellow-browed Warblers and a vocal Firecrest in the nearby trees.
The Red-tailed (Turkestan) Shrike showed superbly well at times at Dunwich Heath this morning, especially first thing. It seemed to be feeding well so hopefully may stick a little longer.
The Baird's Sandpiper was the highlight of a fantastic variety of uncommon waders at Siblyback Lake today, along with a Grey Phalarope, 2 Pec Sands, 2 Curlew Sands and 2 Snipe. Also briefly got onto the Red-rumped Swallow as I arrived, a YLG and great scenery all around.
Amongst the Chiffchaffs at Saul Warth sewage works this morning this really grey bird, which wasn't obliging enough for many pics. A bit unusual. #GlosBirds
@DaleHornsea It's a superficially attractive candidate but I think you've come to the right conclusion. Amongst other things, it doesn't seem big enough, the bill is not "stout" enough, the legs look too yellow and the eye isn't dark as it should be in adults. Interesting bird whatever it is!
The 'possible' Cape Gull Hornsea Mere 30th Aug
After review we conclude its most likely a hybrid, possibly YL & GBB or LBB & GGB. Looked ok for Cape in field at but not all are good enough
This set and a 2nd set of 4 pics for perusal. Would welcome any further constructive views.
