Congratulations to our brilliant Chief Medical Officer, Dr Fenella Wrigley, who’s been awarded an MBE for services to the NHS in the King’s New Year’s Honours list. She said: “I am truly honoured and humbled… this has only been made possible because of the teams I work with.”

On Christmas Day, NHS staff will dispatch around 20,000 ambulances, serve 100,000 Christmas dinners in hospitals, and deliver 1,500 babies, as they do every year. Thank you to the incredible NHS staff working really hard over the Christmas and New Year period.

Absolute worst night of my career. I’ve kept an hour by hour log of numbers in dept and decision making it was that awful… When do you declare a major incident when every day is a major incident? So utterly utterly broken (both the system, the staff, and me).
