#OnThisDay in 1945, Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi concentration and extermination camp, was liberated. Approximately 1.1 million people were murdered at Auschwitz-Birkenau, and over 90% of them were Jewish. We now mark #HolocaustMemorialDay on this anniversary.

Today is #HolocaustMemorialDay - the international day to remember the 6 million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, alongside millions of other people murdered under Nazi persecution of other groups, and in more recent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur. #HMD2023

Today is Holocaust Memorial Day @HMD_UK. Today we remember those who were lost and reflect on the history of the holocaust and subsequent genocides. At 4pm light a candle and safely put it in a window to remember them.
