The population density map below helps to illustrate why they are doing this. It really can't be emphasised enough that Russia is essentially a vast resource-extraction empire created to service two European megacities - Moscow and St Petersburg. Nothing matters more than them.

It’s abused all the time. Employees who request vacation but don’t get it during the desired period simply call in sick. If someone gets fired, they usually call in sick right away. It’s incredibly easy—sometimes all you have to do is call the doctor, not even show up in person. No doctor would refuse (!) to sign someone off sick if they complain of headaches, back pain, or similar symptoms. For many, taking sick leave is like getting another vacation (which is already quite generous in Germany). The map shows the average number of days per year that employees are on sick leave (i.e., with full pay, cannot be fired, etc.): On average, that amounts to almost a full month per year in Saarland. By European standards, Germany is by far the leader in this regard. It makes me angry to encounter a doctor here on X who doesn’t see through this system and even endorses it.

Es überrascht mich immer wieder, wie wenige Menschen zu wissen scheinen, dass ein Haus für 1,2 Mio zu erben nicht automatisch heißt, dass man 120.000 Euro flüssig auf einem Bankkonto hat um die fälligen Erbschaftsteuer zu bezahlen. Aber hey fundamentales Wirtschaftswissen in diesem Land ersetzen wir doch lieber allemal durch Neid. 🤷♀️
