Oil it to protect it from weathering--even indoors. Beyond that, leave it alone. Don't insult the wood by covering it up.
Tung oil would work well.
If you're desperate to make it match walls, throw a white sheet over it for those few occasions.
Get some art for those white walls.

kids in neighborhood street where I lived would set obstacles of that size, practice tricks.
they also were very attentive to traffic, moved obstacles out of way when car approached, with almost no wait by the car.
They've since aged out of the neighborhood.
